Family Pets

Donut and cat. We still have that flooring in our kitchen at the house. Thank goodness for that, otherwise these photos would be a lot more difficult to label.
Pepper Duke at Grandmother and Grandad's.

Pepper Duke, Donut, a cat I don't know the name of and the infamous Goose.

Grandmother and Grandad "owned" that goose. It used to chase Lauren around the yard and it bit her on the nose I believe. As the story goes, the goose (did it have a name?) went missing for a few days once and it turned out it crossed the creek and ended up in a neighbor's yard and that neighbor kept the goose in his kitchen for three days because he didn't realize it belonged to someone.

Happy (Belated) Halloween

That's a drawing of Witch Evil Weevil. She was pretty much the definition of scary when we were young. The date on the paper says Sept 1980. Grandmother (Matilda) made up stories about Witch Evil Weevil (I think starting with Gordy) and told them to us before bedtime. I don't remember them (which is a shame), but I was so happy to find this sketch by Grandmother.

Incidentally, Matthew was browsing through the pile of photos as I was scanning things and found this photo and said, "Oh my gosh. She didn't." As in, I can't believe Grandmother drew this picture that still elicits fear. haha.

Sisters

Lauren and I were talking about how our relationship as sisters is very different than most, especially considering we are 10 years apart. Looking at these pictures makes me think that we just had some really good examples.

Marion and Matilda (I'm guessing Christmas morning?) - twin sisters.

Sharon and Linda with their mom (aka Grandmother aka Matilda) - 2 years apart in age.

Linda and Sharon Christmas morning.

Lauren and Lindsey Christmas morning.

Lauren and Lindsey 1983. Ten years apart in age.

Two cool pictures of Kent

I just love these photos - they are like postcards.

Transportation

Here's a few photos of the old van, the canoe and Grandad's boat.

Wedding bells are ringing.

Photos from Mom's (Linda) and Sharon's weddings:

Aunt Sharon and Uncle Gary eloped. These are photos I found with some of Grandmother's albums. I love this picture of mom and Sharon. The clothes, shoes, hats. All of it. They look beautiful.

She really does just look gorgeous. And I can't get over that hat.

Mom and Dad dancing on their wedding day, October 2, 1971

Grandad and Mom. I love her veil and intend to use it if I can figure out where it is being stored.
Mom (Linda). Beautiful. I love the flowers (I want daisies as well) and all the lace.

The girls

Next up, photos of my mom, Linda, and my aunt, Sharon, as little girls.

I'm thinking this is Sharon because it was dated 1947 and she looks about 1 ish.

And this one is mom. I like this photo for two reasons. It's so quaint and mom is wearing a bonnet.

Mom was a flower girl at someone's wedding.

Mom looked at this and said, "and that's the other girl I was flower girl with." Just in case that wasn't obvious.

This would be the dance costume posing. Sharon - I love the little hat.

Linda...with amazing sleeves.

One of the next best things about these photos for me is the ringlets in their hair. Grandmother used to put ringlets like that in my hair. I remember sitting on her bed for hours at night while she rolled all my hair with her finger.

Also, I think you can see the family resemblance between mom and Lauren and me. I might have to put together one of those meters that measures how much we look like one parent or the other.
